Sadiq joins Tooting Gymnastics Club's 25th Anniversary Celebrations

Tooting Gymnastics Club celebrated its’ 25th Anniversary with special guests Sadiq Khan MP and Olympic Gymnast Beth Tweddle MBE.

The club has continued to grow year on year and currently has 450 members on the register with an even bigger waiting list.

The 25th Anniversary Celebration saw two afternoon parties, each one including fun and games, a gymnastics showcase for parents and the special guests.  Later in the evening Founding Member and Head Coach, Mary Wright, made special reference to eleven coaches and volunteer parents for their commitment and dedication to the club over the last 25 years, and Beth Tweddle presented them each with a Long Service Award.

Beth Tweddle presented a Long Service Awards to the following people; Paul Rogers, Aisha Walters, Paula Trinder, Henry Thompson, Izzie Kaufeler, Cherry Tolcher, Camilla Duncan, Mick and Jane Lacey, Neil Wright and the Extended Lacey Family.

Sadiq Khan MP said:

“I was really pleased to join everyone at Tooting Gymnastics Club to celebrate their 25th anniversary – what an achievement! As the local MP, and as a parent who’s daughters attend the club, I have seen first-hand the fantastic work of the club and all of their coaches and volunteers. It is great to see the club’s founder Mary is still leading the club and continues to be an inspiration to all their members.

“I would like to thank Beth Tweddle for coming along to join in the celebrations. She is a shining of example of what can be achieved if you really work hard, and her attendance at the club’s anniversary celebrations really helped to inspire the club’s gymnasts.”

Founding member and Head Coach, Mary Wright said:

“Everyone at the club was delighted and honoured that special guests Sadiq Khan MP and Olympic Gymnast Beth Tweddle MBE, were able to join us for this special celebration.

“It was a great opportunity to reminisce over the last 25 years, with old members and new, and to recognise the commitment and hard work of our many coaches and volunteers.”
