Sadiq welcomes car wash campaign success

After joining local residents, councillors and Tooting History Society in objecting to plans to build an 8-bay car wash on Tooting High Street and the corner of Woodbury Street, Sadiq Khan MP welcomes the news that the planning application has been withdrawn.

Sadiq Khan MP said:

"As the local MP I am glad that I was able to help support local residents and Tooting history society in objecting to these plans. It was clear that the site just was not suitable for an 8-bay car wash. Woodbury Street is already a busy residential road and we need to look at how we make the road safer, rather than making it worse!

"I join local residents in welcoming the news that the applicants have seen sense and withdrawn their plans.

"In recent years we have seen an increase in ill thought out planning applications, which threaten our local heritage. It's great news that on this occasion we have succeeded in blocking this one, but our Save Our High Street campaign continues. Fighting for a diverse high street, to protect out history and ensuring that local residents have their voices heard."
