Sadiq opens new school building

The Right Honourable Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury and Sadiq Khan MP attend the grand opening of the new upper school at the ‘Outstanding’ Hillbrook Primary School in Tooting, London.

On Friday, 13 November 2015 the new Larchwood building at Hillbrook Primary school was opened by the President of the UK Supreme Court, Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury and the local MP and Mayoral Candidate Sadiq Khan MP at a drinks reception held at the school.

As a result of £6 million worth of investment a new modern two storey building has been built. The new building has a multi-purpose hall, new specialist music and art rooms in addition to spacious classrooms with access to outdoor teaching areas.  Significant funds have also been invested in upgrading the existing building and renovating the surrounding play areas.

Sadiq Khan MP said:

“It was a real pleasure to join staff, governors, parents, students, councillors and Lord Neuberger for the opening of Hillbrook Primary School’s new building

“Following the Wandsworth school places crisis, Hillbrook was asked to help out by extending to four form entry and I’m glad to see that the school now has these fantastic facilities to allow them to expand and continue to provide an excellent education for local children.

“The school continues to go from strength to strength: both the school and nursery have been named Outstanding by Ofsted and now they have this brilliant new building. Everyone at the school should be very proud of what they have helped Hillbrook to achieve.”
