The winner of Sadiq’s annual Christmas Card Competition this year is 9 year old Dylan Braganza Fitzpatrick, from Ravenstone Primary School in Balham.
Every year Sadiq Khan invites primary school children from all across his constituency to design pictures for the front of his Christmas card. This year the response from schools was overwhelming, with hundreds of children from Earlsfield, Tooting, Furzedown, Wandsworth Common and Balham submitting their entries.
The designs were judged by four representatives from within the local community; Reverend Steve Rouse, Balham Baptist Church, Chief Supt Richard Smith, from Wandsworth Police, Gill Perkins from the local charity Wandsworth Oasis, and Furzedown councillor, Leonie Cooper.
The judges selected Dylan’s design to appear on the front of Sadiq’s Christmas card this year. Sadiq announced the winner in assembly at Ravenstone Primary School, and presented Dylan with a framed certificate, as well as a small gift and the invitation for a tour of the Houses of Parliament for his whole family.
As well as choosing the overall winner, the judges selected five runners up whose designs appear on the reverse of the card. Each runner up receives a prize and every child that entered the competition will receive a certificate from Sadiq.
Sadiq’s Christmas card will be sent out to more than 6,000 families, businesses, politicians and celebrities across the world.
The cards were very generously sponsored by local businesses; Pooja Sweets and Savouries, M1LK café, on Bedford Hill, the Pearl Chemist group, and Prime Homes.

“My Christmas card competition is one of the highlights of my year and it is always a delight to see so many children take part. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who entered – you made the judges’ task very difficult! The designs which were shortlisted to appear on the card are all fantastic, and Dylan’s design on the front really stands out. Local children have helped make a card that I am proud to send across the world.
“I would also like to thank all of the judges for giving up their time to help choose the winner this year. I’m just glad I didn’t have to make the decision! I must also thank the sponsors who have very kindly supported the competition this year.”
