Protect our pub from developers, not demolition!

Dear Councillor,

Re: Strategic Planning & Transportation Overview and Scrutiny Committee- 19th November 2013

As a Wandsworth resident, and supporter of the campaign to save The Wheatsheaf pub, I am concerned to see that the Committee Report for the above meeting does not recommend that an Article 4 Direction be made as requested by my Member of Parliament, Sadiq Khan, but instead indicates that, if anything, the Council could grant an Article 4 Direction protecting the pub from demolition, NOT change of use.

It is my view that anything short of an Article 4 Direction to protect the pub against change of use is not good enough.

Our much-loved local pub is at threat of being taken over by developers - not from demolition. The local community want Wandsworth Council to show their support for The Wheatsheaf by granting an Article 4 Direction against change of use, as raised by my MP, in his letter to the Council here

When you meet on 19th November, I hope the Strategic Planning and Transportation Overview and Scrutiny Committee will listen to what local residents are asking for, and protect our pub for the future.

Yours sincerely
