Mohamed is 13 years old and attends Ernest Bevin College, Sadiq's old school. He has been selected to run the Mini-Marathon with students from schools across the capital. This takes place on marathon day every year before the big race - and is a place to spot future stars – a certain Mo Farah won it three times between 1998 and 2000.
Sadiq Khan MP said:
“It was a real pleasure to meet Mohamed; a student from my old school and a runner with real promise for the future. He has really earned his place in the Mini-Marathon and I wish him all the best for the run.
“I was pleased to hear we both share the same hero – Mo Farah – who like me will be running the London Marathon for the first time this year too. As race day fast approaches, I am getting really nervous, although the support I have had for my charity run from Tooting residents and organisations like the Wandsworth Guardian are a real boost to keep going."
Mini-Marathon runner, Mohamed Mohamud, said:
"It was good to meet Sadiq and talk about running the London Marathon. I found out his hero is Mo Farah and people at school call me Mo because they know how much I love running."
