Developers are the real threat

Popular community pubs across London are seeing developers turn their much-loved locals into supermarket chains or luxury flats. The real risk facing The Wheatsheaf, and most pubs across South London, is development, not demolition.

Here's some examples...

The Grove Tavern in Wimbledon has just been converted into a Tesco

The Prince of Wales, on Garratt Lane is also set to become another Tesco...

Then there is the Jack Stamps pub in West Norwood, and guess what, taken over by another supermarket

And the Warrior pub in Loughborough Junction...

It's even a problem in Kensington, as the North Pole pub has been turned into a Tesco Express
