Consult our community before cutting down our trees

We are very concerned to learn of Wandsworth Council's plan to cut down 77 mature Chestnut trees on Tooting Common, 57 of which we understand are healthy and only 4 of which are terminally diseased or dead.

We call on Wandsworth Council to make good on their promise to consult local people and community groups before cutting down any of the trees which line Chestnut Avenue. As part of this consultation we call on the Council to present residents with a range of options, including the replacement of trees over time and only if they become terminally diseased, with appropriate expert advice to support each option.
